Vintage Designer Wedding Gown Ensemble - Antique Ivory.

Custom Made: Nine Foot Cathedral Train, Elbow Length Priscilla of Boston Veil, Juliet Point Arm Sleeves

Custom Designed, Victorian Style

This rich, antique-ivory satin and lace wedding gown, has a lovely, flowing cathedral train. The exquisite floral lace applique is accentuated by hand-sewn clusters of pearls and clear aurora borealis sequin detailing. The applique is precisely applied to the dress and has the look of floral garland. This garland subtly sparkles, and offsets the incredible sheen of the silky satin.

Dainty high neck is scalloped, and sits perfectly just above the collar bone.

Semi-yolk bodice is sheer lace, with the elegant pearl and sequined floral applique.

Fitted through bust and shoulders, an exquisitely feminine look!

Capped sleeves of delicate lace, the additional detached sleeves elegantly taper to Juliet points. Each sleeve has four fabric covered buttons on the inside wrist. This gives 'the look' a true Victorian feel.

The front of the gown has a natural waist and the back waist is basque style. There is a full, center back zipper, along with hidden fabric covered buttons, for the bustling of the train. (See photo of train while bustled)

The elbow length veil, custom made by PRISCILLA of Boston is an identical match to the dress and arm sleeves...the bow headpiece is fashioned entirely of pearl clusters & sequins all hand sewn with floral lace applique.

Hundreds of tiny pearl clusters & clear sequins were hand sewn to the dress as well, by a Priscilla's of Boston seamstress.... making this a one-of-a-kind, custom designed ensemble.

The elegant designer gown is identical to the custom made juliet point arm sleeves and veil.

This dress is in excellent condition, there are a couple of light scuff marks near the bottom of the skirt that are not noticable due to the way the skirt falls. The gown was cleaned and preserved/sealed by a professional dry cleaner in the 1980s. It has been stored in a cedar chest since then. We opened the seal to take measurements and photos and then immediately resealed it. Some of the photos shown are... photos of pictures the one day is was worn.

Heisey Stemware, Heisey Glass, Cocktails, Flamingo Pink, RARE, Etched & Cut Yeoman Pattern, circa 1925

This rare set of six marked HEISEY COCKTAILS or cordials are spectacular! Heisey Collector's won't want to bypass this particular set. These were select pieces from the Yeoman (Diamond Optic) Pattern that were Etched & Cut with a Floral Motif.

AN INCREDIBLE OFFERING

Heisey Glass Cocktails, Flamingo Pink Stemware.....Set of Six.

The floral pattern was etched and cut into the outside of these Yeoman patterned cocktails. These rare cut glass Yeoman pieces were manufactured in the late 1920s.

The patterns...Revere #1183 and Yeoman #1184 are interchangeable in some catalogs.

Each 3 to 4 oz. cocktail measures 4" h x 2 1/4" d

WONDERFULLY EXCELLENT CONDITION!

Marked with the Heisey signature- H encased in a diamond

Heisey's FLAMINGO Pink is a wonderful and unusual color...it appears to be deeper on the bottom and fade toward top. You can feel the diamond optic pattern (feels like concave diamond shapes on the inside only). The floral motif on the outside is meticulously etched and cut. Only select pieces were done is in this fashion.

UPDATE from The Cove... Hopelessly Devoted to Heisey From Pamela Wiggins, Your Guide to Antiques. Quick Facts About Heisey Glass: The Heisey factory was in business from 1896 through 1957. Quality glass like that produced by Heisey has been nicknamed “elegant” glass by antiques dealers and collectors.

All Heisey glass was marked with either a raised “Diamond H” directly in the glass or with a paper sticker. Most of the stickers have been removed with cleaning and use leaving many pieces of unmarked glass for collectors to identify by other means.

Heisey Collectors of America owns most of the old molds from this company, which helps to minimize unauthorized reproductions

Testimonial to my beloved mom, my inspiration

Hello friends. It has been a long while since I have written...seems longer than the actual days that have passed.

Happy New Year to you all! I hope you were fortunate enough to spend the holidays with loved ones. We had a pleasant holiday season, always have to keep it festive for the kids sake, but it was a difficult one as well.

The day after I last wrote my beloved mother took ill. She had a stroke...her 2nd in 9 years... and this one involved too many issues for any one person to recover from. I thought I'd take today to share my personal thoughts about my mom, her life, and death. Some of the simple, but plain truths she taught me, by example. I'm so fortunate, to carry within me, these beliefs as I journey through this world and share with my own children as they grow into adulthood. Simple, but plain truths I learned because of her.

She and my dad married in 1961. What a typical traditional couple they were. My mom took her role as housewife very seriously and my dad worked every day to pay the mortgage. My best friend always thought of my mom as Mrs Cleaver from 'Leave it to Beaver'! I don't remember her vacuuming with her choker length pearls on but she was always dressed smartly in a skirt and blouse.... and our house was spotless. That's right it would easily pass the white glove test any day of the week.  My dad came home each night to a nutritionally balanced, home cooked meal and we all ate together. Every night, everyone ate together. Take out food was a treat, maybe once a month if that. After dinner, my dad would ask my mom is she wanted help with the dishes, she'd always say no and he'd loosen his tie and go read the paper in the living room. My mom would do the dishes - no dishwasher, no garbage disposal, life was so different than it is now.

I started this entry in January and got swept away, but here I am again. There is too much to write about about my parents & their wonderful lives together in this sitting. I will save that for my FOOTBRIDGE COVE TIDBITS blog on blogger. footbridgecovetidbits

However, each day I find myself looking toward the future with a renewed enthusiasm, even as things are in flux with the economic times. Each day there is something positive to find. Look inside yourself, always have faith, funny that is probably the most important legacy my mom left behind... and she, nor I, until now never even realized it. ALWAYS HAVE FAITH.

THIS WEEK.... we have a Boehm porcelain Baby Swan, otherwise known as the Standing Cygnet from Boehm's Collection.

 

BOEHM'S Standing Cygnet at FOOTBRIDGE COVE

 

Marked "Boehm CYGNET, Cygnus Olor, 400-27" with Boehm's signature horse head, BOEHM and the feather reading EDWARD MARSHALL BOEHM.

There are several bottom marks that were used by the Boehm Company, these marks determine the dates of creation (or manufacture) of each piece. The 'Standing Cygnet' was created for a four year period and retired.

Circa 1976-1980

Measurements: 5" wide and 6-3/4" tall

Condition: Excellent... PERFECT...Mint! We have inspected this piece very closely under magnification.

The eyes... so life-like! Boehm had incomparable talent in his field of mastery - porcelain sculptures. This Cygnet, though porcelain, is so perfectly dimensional & detailed you almost feel like you could pet it, cuddle it - INCREDIBLE!

 

Must See Boehm's Pieces at Footbridge Cove

 

Our research shows this Cygnet is also known as Cygnus Olor... both Cygnus and Olor mean "swan", in Ancient Greek and Latin, respectively. The Mute Swan -Bird of Peace (Cygnus Olor) is a common Eurasian member of the duck, goose and swan family. Young birds (baby swans), called "cygnets", are not the bright white of mature adults, and their bill is black, with a red tip....not orange, for the first year. The color of the down may range from pure white to grey to a buff color. All mute swans are white at maturity.

Also interesting to note: the Mute Swan is the national bird of the Kingdom of Denmark.

And....both the Ancient Britons and the Anglo-Saxons believed that a swan's wings throbbed and sang with a human voice when they flew!

This, hard to come by, scarf is perfect in every way!!! It is extravagant in length (11.5" X 54.5") making it suitable for many uses! Most every Liberty of London Scarf we have seen over the years is a square.

The creamy silk background borders the entire scarf. The small, deep pastel, blooming pansies are scattered like a blanket of petals. This scarf is like no other we have seen to date.
